Howard Stern Recap 1/28: J.K. Simmons Is Nervous About Saturday Night Live

In light of J.K. Simmons recent Academy Award nomination for his role in WHIPLASH, he appeared in the Stern Studio on Wednesday morning.

Simmons will also be hosting Saturday Night Live on January 31st, and told Stern that he's very nervous for the occasion. He said he recently just hopped off a flight from L.A. and jumped right into brainstorming ideas. He and the staff will have to pitch ideas to Lorne Michaels.

He said he will find out what he'll be performing tonight, and that the staff of writers had been up all right writing 50+ sketches. One sketch may be a video spoof of the movie WHIPLASH. Simmons had to go to rehearsal after he met with Stern, and noted that Saturday with be a 14 hour day. Simmons expressed worry about his voice because he's been traveling a lot.

America's Got Talent won't give Howard Stern a schedule. Stern opened up his show talking about how America's Got Talent not giving him a work schedule is interfering with him booking guests for his show.

When he works with AGT, they need him for the entire day. He said that this is supposed to be his "fun" year with AGT, and he's already complaining.

Sam Smith responded to Howard Stern. Howard Stern was recently cited as calling Sam Smith "fat and gay," and Stern feels bad about this, saying the press twisted his words.

Apparently Sam Smith doesn't care, and will get over what he heard.

Stern stressed that calling someone gay when they are gay is not an insult, and he's appalled that this story has made more news than anything else he has done.
