Henry Cavill Discusses Potential Superman Fight Against Black Adam In The Future

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe may be all the talk right now with Avengers: Infinity War crushing just about every known opening weekend record you can imagine, the DCEU will be picking back up later this year with Aquaman and then Shazam! and Wonder Woman in 2019.

One of the most asked for matchups between characters was just asked to Henry Cavill and he weighed in on if he thought we might see it happen.

One of the longest cast roles in the DCEU has been Dwayne Johnson as the Rock, who we hope to finally see as Black Adam in the near future.

It sounds like he will not be a part of Shazam! at all, though I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some sort of post-credits tease or something.

Cavill has been talking about a potential showdown between his Superman and Johnson's Black Adam for awhile now, which he was just asked about again in a video interview with MTV, which has been transcribed by Heroic Hollywood.

“There’s definitely some kind of work towards that. There’s a lot of things spinning around in the universe right now with that. Obviously, if Black Adam does become a character, officially, he will play him. I’m pretty sure it’ll be a Shazam! Black Adam thing first. If it does happen, it would make sense that way, but you never know. Maybe it’ll be a Superman movie and Shazam! will come and help. That’s kind of stealing his limelight though, which is not cool.”

There have been plenty of rumors and teases that Cavill will show up in a cameo role in Shazam! as Superman, so that could potentially lead to an eventual team-up of the two against Black Adam.

We've seen this happen in the past plenty of times, so it definitely wouldn't be that shocking.

It would be pretty awesome to see this matchup on screen, as it would pit together two of the strongest characters in the DC universe in one fight.

Whether we will see that come to fruition though will largely come down to how successful movies like Aquaman and Shazam! are as Wonder Woman has been the only really successful move to come out of the DCEU thus far from a critical and financial standpoint.
