The release date for the home release version of Ghost in the Shell 2017 has now been revealed.

You can buy the movie on Blu-ray or old school DVD. The movie will be available to watch in many different formats at multiple price points.

As listed on Amazon, the physical home release of Ghost in the Shell will be available in North America on July 25th, 2017.

The 2D Blu-ray costs $24.99 while the 2D DVD is the cheapest with a price of only $19.16. Alternatively, you can buy the movie in 4K and 3D formats both costing $29.99.

As of right now, no details have been announced about the special features yet. It's possible they will delve deeply into the making of the film.

The movie's special effects were done by Weta Workshop all the way in Wellington, New Zealand.

Since the film was filmed in New Zealand, it boosted Wellington's economy. New Zealand has been a popular destination for filmmakers ever since the success of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Only the physical home release date for the movie was revealed. It's highly likely the Digital HD release date will be two weeks before July 25th.

In either case, the movie is worth buying on Blu-ray if you are one of the people that ended up liking the film. The visual effects are one of the best things about the film.

Ghost in the Shell didn't end up making that much money at the Box Office due to the white washing controversy of casting Scarlett Johansson as the lead character. Even though the story itself explains why a white lead was cast, it didn't entice many people to check out the movie anyway as it only made $169.8 million worldwide.

This is quite low since the budget for the film was $110 million. It will be interesting to see if Paramount Pictures can somewhat make more money off the film with the Blu-ray release.
