Kittie Pryde and her alter ego Shadowcat has always been one of the more popular X-Men characters ever created.

Due to her popularity, Fox is going to make a solo film about the character in the near future directed by Deadpool's Tim Miller.

As reported exclusively by Collider, their sources tell them that Fox really wants this Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat movie to be made even with the merger with Disney about to take place within the next 18 months or so.

That said, Miller is busy and may not be able to actively work on the project just yet.

Tim Miller is producing a Sonic the Hedgehog movie and is set to direct a new Terminator film too produced by James Cameron.

It's hard to tell how a Kitty Pryde movie will be made in the current X-Men movie timeline.

The original version of the character was portrayed by Ellen Page in both X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Thanks to the aforementioned Days of Future Past, an alternate timeline has been created so the original X-Men films aren't too relevant anymore. It's also interesting to note that Tim Miller wants to come back and work for Fox.

Miller was originally going to direct Deadpool 2 after the success of the first movie. However, he left the project thanks to creative differences so the untitled Deadpool sequel is now directed by David Leitch instead.

Anyway, 2018 looks bright for X-Men fans as Fox is going all out with the franchise this year. Releasing later this year are New Mutants, Deadpool 2 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

After that, the future of the X-Men franchise looks cloudy if the merger with Disney is successful. Disney/Marvel could potentially scrap all of Fox's plans for the future and do their own thing to tie with the MCU.
