20th Century Fox's ownership of the X-Men franchise appears to be over with the impending sale of much of their assets to Disney, returning the rights of many beloved Marvel characters.

In the meantime however, Fox has still been pushing forward with new movies, but now two of them have been pushed back.

Originally, the upcoming X-Men spin-off film titled New Mutants was supposed to be coming out in just a few weeks, but it was then delayed awhile back to February 22, 2019.

At that point, X-Men: Dark Phoenix was scheduled for release on November 2nd, 2018, which didn't change at that point.

A new report from Variety, however, has revealed that 20th Century Fox has pushed back both movies, with both set to arrive in 2019 now.

This report states that X-Men: Dark Phoenix has now been pushed back from its November 2018 release date to February 14, 2019. With X-Men: Dark Phoenix now being in February, Fox has subsequently moved back New Mutants from February to August 2, 2019.

The delay for X-Men: Dark Phoenix is pretty understandable, with February proving to be a big opportunity after the success of movies like Deadpool and most recently Black Panthers. However, yet another major delay for New Mutants seems very troubling.

Considering that New Mutants was originally scheduled to release in only a matter of weeks before being delayed the first time not too long ago, and now being delayed again does not seem to bode well for its quality and success.

This now puts it coming out 16 months after its originally scheduled release date, which is a really long time.

In addition, with X-Men Dark Phoenix moving off the November 2nd release, Fox is moving up Bohemian Rhapsody from December 25th to premiere on that day instead.
