Sony has finally released the first teaser trailer for its standalone Venom movie that will be out later this year. Sadly though, the teaser does not show much outside of just Tom Hardy's normal Eddie Brock human form.

As of time of writing, over 1 million people have seen the teaser although not everyone is happy about it. This is because the trailer does not show any footage of the Venom character whatsoever.

Sony Pictures announced the following: "Watch the #Venom teaser trailer now out 10/5/18.One of Marvel's most enigmatic, complex and badass characters comes to the big screen, starring Academy Award nominated actor Tom Hardy as the lethal protector Venom."

Although we don't get to see Tom Hardy inside of the Venom suit, we do get a glimpse of the black symbiote that will eventually bond with him.

The tiny synopsis suggests the movie will make Venom a "good guy" although he will punish criminals in a more savage fashion compared to other superheroes.

Speaking of superheroes, it's still unknown if this version of Venom even has Spider-Man around. In the original comic book, Venom's powers came to be because Peter Parker was bonded with the symbiote first while Spider-Man was up in space.

That said, I did not mind the teaser trailer mainly because it does not spoil everything. I remember not liking trailers for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Terminator Genysis and Spider-Man: Homecoming because they showed too much footage.

Anyway, the Venom movie will be out in North America on October 5th, 2018. Hopefully Tom Hardy's portrayal of the character is much better than Topher Grace's performance over 10 years ago in Spider-Man 3.
