Usually movie trailers are just released on YouTube and other social media platforms to allow lots of people to view them.

Well Peter Jackson is doing the old school approach by attaching his Mortal Engines teaser trailer to cinema screenings of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

The New Zealand born director is producing Mortal Engines and it's a new film based on a novel written by Phillip Reeve. You can read Peter Jackson's announcement about the teaser trailer down below via Facebook.

I am pleased to announce that the teaser trailer for our movie Mortal Engines will be debuting in cinemas around the world, with Star Wars: The Last Jedi.Mortal Engines is directed by Christian Rivers and will be released next year.I hope you all enjoy our first trailer!

A lot of the film is shot in New Zealand, although there will be a lot of green screen used as CGI will play a big part in the movie.

It's pretty much a post apocalyptic setting where the characters have to fight for food and supplies.

Universal Pictures is making the film and the release date for it is December 14th, 2018 in North America. The only major competition it faces is Sony's animated film called Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

One week later, Mortal Engines will then have to compete with Warner Bros' Aquaman.

There's no new Star Wars or Avatar movie out in December 2018, so it's possible any of the the movies I just mentioned could rule the Box Office next Holiday season.

Despite Mortal Engines debuting its trailer during sessions of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Universal Pictures is more than likely going to upload the first teaser trailer for the film in the coming days.
