Marvel's Black Panther's Box Office potential is rising at a rapid pace thanks to the film's universal critical acclaim.

It could be on track to become the highest Box Office weekend earner for movies released in the first quarter of the year.

The first quarter of the year has seen lots of breakout movies released in the months of January to March.

In recent years, hits like Deadpool, Beauty and the Beast, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and The Hunger Games have all had monster opening weekends that rival and/or eclipse Summer blockbusters.

As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, movie ticket seller Fandango says Black Panther pre-sales are beating out the aforementioned movies. To put this in perspective, last year's Beauty and the Beast grossed a massive $174.8 million in its opening weekend.

Right now, tracking suggest Marvel's film could gross around the neighborhood of $130 million to $150 million in its opening weekend. To me, these are conservative numbers and I'm expecting the film to gross $160 million in its opening weekend or higher.

Fandango's Erik Davis says this is more than just a typical Marvel film. He says the film is a cultural event and customers have been purchasing tickets in large quantities.

Yesterday, the film had a perfect 100 percent Rotten Tomatoes score, although sadly it has dropped down to 99 percent today. Only one negative review has been given to the film thus far.

We will be watching Black Panther for ourselves next Thursday so keep it locked here at Empty Lighthouse Magazine to read our full review. It could be the best movie released in 2018!
