Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is usually a bankable star, but he took a bit of a hit when Baywatch flopped earlier this year.

Well it looks like the actor is back on track as Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle is getting decent reviews from the press.

It's still early days, but Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle is surprisingly getting better reviews than expected. Many people ruled the movie out because it's a sequel to the 1995 classic film starring Robin Williams.

However, the team of The Rock, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillian and Jack Black has managed to make the film somewhat of a hit with critics.

As seen on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie (as of time of writing) has a healthy fresh rating of 82 percent.

22 reviews have been collected so far with 18 of them being fresh while 4 of them are rotten. The average rating score for the movie is 6/10 which means most reviewers gave the film an adequate 3/5 stars.

The critics consensus says: "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle uses a charming cast and a humorous twist to offer an undemanding yet solidly entertaining update on its source material."

Usually reboots and/or sequels of comedies are terrible. Many fans hated the 2016 version of Ghostbusters while Dumb and Dumber To was an unfunny mess.

I've yet to see the movie for myself, but it looks like the star-studded quartet is able to carry the movie well with their charisma. Not to mention all of them are recognizable stars with an already built-in fan base.

The only stumbling block for the movie is its release date.

In North America, the movie is coming out on December 20th, 2017. This is only a few days after the release of Disney's mega powerhouse of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

That said, the movie could still make some money for those that don't like Star Wars.

The 2009 Sherlock Holmes will made a decent amount of money at the Box Office when it came out around the same time as James Cameron's Avatar.
