On Christmas Day 2016, fans were reintroduced to Dev Patel in the film Lion. The star recently visited The Ellen Show to talk about getting into shape for the film and his 2017 Sexiest Man Alive bid.

Patel told DeGeneres that while he did work out a lot, he didn't lift heavy weights and was more vocal than anything. The actor spoke about his "nourishing" experience in India while shooting the film about a boy who is lost in India and adopted by an Australian family.

He later on sets out to find his real parents. What's even more interesting is the fact that it is a true story.

The actor said that the film is heartbreaking but at it's core sends a hopeful message.

Meanwhile, Patel raved about the film's youngest star who plays the main character when he was about 5-years-old.

He said that the little boy carried the film for someone who had never been on an airplane or even seen a camera before.

DeGeneres decided that since people were talking about how buff Patel had gotten, she would create a People Sexiest Man 2017 cover with his face on it and print it out for him to hand out.

It was not an official bid but one DeGeneres thought might get people talking about him. You can watch Patel's interview with Ellen DeGeneres in the video below.
