The Summer blockbuster season of 2017 has seen a lot of good movies come out. Wonder Woman, Dunkirk, Spider-Man: Homecoming and more have been praised by both critics and fans alike.

However, there have been duds such as Transformers: The Last Knight, Baywatch and The Emoji Movie. Sadly, the new film The Dark Tower falls under the latter category.

Stephen King is one of the most renowned authors of all time and fans have been waiting for The Dark Tower movie for many years. However, the reviews for the new film have been bad and nobody seems to like its direction.

By visiting Rotten Tomatoes, you can see that the current rating for the film is a dismal 18 percent. The average rating is 4.1/10 meaning reviewers scored this with one or two stars mainly.

As of right now, it's unlikely the rating is going to improve.

So far 62 reviewers have given the film a thumbs down while only 14 of them like the movie. The main critical consensus is that you should watch other films that have been adapted from Stephen King's many novels.

The main issue with the movie according to critics is that it deviates from the original source. Not to mention it tries to cram too much information into one movie.

The movie is only around 95 minutes long yet the novels span for 8 books. Too much of the plot is glossed over and forgotten about in the film version.

Some reviewers praise the acting of Idris Elba and the action, but that's about it. The story and unfaithful adaptation is likely going to disappoint hardcore Stephen King fans.

The movie was tracking to open first at the Box Office later this weekend, but now things aren't so clear. The bad reviews could make Dunkirk number 1 again.
