The CW upfronts may not be until next week, but they are getting out ahead of those announcements by making a number of announcements today involving new series being ordered.

After renewing most of their lineup awhile back, they have now announced four news series that they have ordered, including the most high profile title with Black Lightning.

Black Lightning is Greg Berlanti's latest project that comes from a DC property that stars Cress Williams as a retired superhero Jefferson Pierce who is forced back into the costume years later.

This started off at Fox, but after being passed on by them, The CW took the project and has ordered the series according to TVLine.

When Black Lightning was scheduled for Fox, there was no chance of it being connected to the existing Arrowverse series like Fox's Gotham.

However, with it coming to the CW, it's very possible we could see them crossover at some point, even if it's set on another Earth like The CW's Supergirl.

Besides Black Lightning, The CW also ordered three other series today as well, including Death Sentence that stars Pretty Little Liars' Lucy Hale in her first role after the conclusion of the popular Freeform show.

The premise of Death Sentence is that Hale's character is diagnosed with cancer and decides to "live like she was dying." However, she then finds out she isn't actually dying and must live with with the consequences of what she did in that time.

Also coming is the military themed Valor that stars Matt Barr and Christina Ochoa as "a pair of elite helicopter pilots who uncover a twisted secret about a botched mission to Somalia that left American servicemen in enemy hands."

Lastly, The CW has ordered a reboot to the popular 1980s television drama Dynasty that "follows two of America's wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children." This series is set to star Grant Show, Elizabeth Gillies, and Nathalie Kelley.

We do not know if any of these four series will be on the fall lineup for the CW, as they could be saved for midseason as well.

That answer will come next week during the CW's upfront presentation that will take place on Thursday, May 18.
