Last night I had the pleasure of previewing the SPECTRUM New York Art Far, "Fall's Fine Art Destination" running from today, October 3rd until Sunday October 6th.

Can I just tell you that there is some serious talent being represented from all over the country.

In talking with some very saucy people like the gracious Daniel Deljou, president and publisher at Deljou Art Group of Atlanta, GA and exhibiting artist Socrates Marquez conversation turned to the intimate nature of SPECTRUM-New York.

These are a few teasers from last night; your trusty editor is en route to The Javtis Center now to get the scoop straight from some of these artists and their reps today. I'll be back around dinner time with an interview and some new art-sauce.

I won't spill all the beans but trust me when I say you'll seeing a lot more about these great international talents and more over the coming months leading up to SPECTRUM-Miami in December where we hope to bring you even more dialogue about the contemporary art market.

Daniel had this to say about the welcome change of pace from large-scale art expos in relation to "the old days" (he's been in the business for 33 years),
"I [used to] open up my portfolio and put my work on the table and people would just gather and pull up a chair, and a cigarette and the coffee and they call everybody in the gallery...they analyze any piece...out of twelve they might take two, three or four...now-a-days they ask me what I have and I go to the website honestly, we have one of the largest image banks of fine art consisting of up to 20K images, all exclusive and they take fifteen twenty minutes and then say what else do you have?...People get tired of looking at things, our industry...are image hungry, when they see when it's done they don't necessarily have to purchase it.

An intimate setting like this would bypass all of that. "

More awesome quotes, pieces and insights from day one of SPECTRUM-NEW YORK coming later, stay tuned!
