The Capcom Cup, the tournament where the world's premier Street Fighter players duke it out, will be this Saturday, December 13. It will take place at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco, CA at 1:00 PM PST.

For fighting fans, this event has something special: It will be the first match of Street Fighter V that the public will see.

Capcom announced the news on Street Fighter's official Twitter account. And they provided a link to a page with more information about the event.

In addition to the best Street Fighter players battling for a prize of $50,000, the Capcom Cup will also have a live performance from The Megas--a band that plays music inspired by classic video games.

Street Fighter V was announced earlier this month, and it took the gaming world by storm when they revealed that the title would be available exclusively for the PlayStation 4.

This was unexpected, since Street Fighter IV and its subsequent iterations were available for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Microsoft has promised to make up for the fact that the famed fighting franchise wouldn't appear on their newest console, according to Gamespot. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer posted on Twitter that he would "work on making amends for SF."
