Before the release of Marvel's Black Panther next week, this weekend sees the release of the third and final Fifty Shades movie called Fifty Shades Freed.

Despite the movie getting hammered by critics, the fans still turned up to watch the film.

Both Box Office Pro and Box Office Mojo estimate that Fifty Shades Freed is on track to earn between $38 million to $40 million this weekend. Thanks to this release, the franchise as a whole has earned over $1 billion worldwide.

Fifty Shades Freed is also expected to already gross over $100 million worldwide this weekend.

The CinemaScore for the film is B+ further indicating fans like the movie way better than the critics that were forced to watch it in the first place.

The only other notable blockbuster out this weekend is Peter Rabbit. The animated film managed to gross an estimated $20 million to $22 million this weekend.

However, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is still earning lots of money despite releasing in late December 2017. The movie is on its way to earn an impressive $9.6 million this weekend.

In North America, Jumanji 2 could overtake Spider-Man 2 to be Sony's second highest earner of all time. Jumanji 2 has grossed over $365 million in North America alone and could overtake the over $373 million earned by Spider-Man 2 domestically.

The biggest Sony Pictures earner of all time in North America still remains to be the 2002 Spider-Man movie. The first Spider-Man movie grossed over $403 million almost 16 years ago.

Disney and Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The Last Jedi still managed to make over $1.3 million this weekend taking its domestic total to around $616 million.

It's inching very close to the North American gross of The Avengers which took in $623 million back in 2012.
