It was officially announced during last month's CW upfront that they had picked up Black Lightning as a series, with it scheduled to debut sometime in midseason.

While it has been said previously that the series will not be part of the Arrowverse, the co-showrunner for Black Lightning has given some hope for a potential crossover, as well as for a possible appearance of a fan favorite.

In an interview with Comic Book Movie, Black Lightning co-showrunner Salim Akil discussed the possibility of a crossover with the existing Arrowverse that consists of Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow, in which he said:

"The storytelling is a little bit more political. It's topical, and it's a little grittier. It doesn't mean that down the road there won't be visits."

Considering that Black Lightning will also be on the CW with the other shows, you would think this might be easy.

However, as we saw with Supergirl in its first season, this could be tricky due to filming locations.

Like how Supergirl was filmed in Los Angeles in its first season rather than Vancouver that it moved to starting with season two where the other three shows are filmed, Black Lightning is being filmed in Atlanta.

Atlanta is pretty far away obviously, and while a flight wouldn't be that bad between the two, figuring out schedules between the filming of the shows could prove difficult.

If they do decide to have them connected in some way, it will be likely that Black Lightning is just set on a different Earth like how Supergirl is in comparison to the other three shows, but that hasn't stopped them from crossing over.

The interview with Akil also revealed one other piece of information about a fan favorite character and his potential for showing up on Black Lightning in the future.

"I love the idea of Static Shock, and in success, hopefully, we'll be able to pull other characters in that way. So I'm holding out hope because I love that character."

Some people may get Static confused with Black Lightning due to the somewhat similar power set, but they have rarely actually been connected.

Young Justice had the two work together in one episode, with Black Lightning even offering to be a mentor to Static, so maybe we could see something like that.

Whether this comes to fruition or not is something we'll have to wait and see.
