Three former SNL cast members and friends of the Stern Show by the names of Bill Hader, Seth Meyers and Fred Armisen, returned to the show to make a special visit.

The trio sat down with Howard Stern to talk about Documentary Now and more.

Stern introduced Armisen, Meyers and Hader who are getting ready for season two of Documentary Now, a mockumentary show that pokes fun at the serious tones of many pieces in the genre.

"Howard said they actually renewed that show. Bill laughed. Seth said the ratings weren't bad. He said it wasn't Empire though," according to a MarksFriggin rundown.

"Howard said they have to convince people to watch this show. Howard asked how they got it renewed if the ratings weren't good.

Seth said they renewed it for 2 more seasons before the first season even premiered. Bill said he was told that and he said 'What!?' He thought he was joking."

Meanwhile, Stern pointed out that Hader had been on quite the tear with his movies with Armisen following as well.

During the visit, Armisen told a classic Prince story about how the late singer had his own after party while the SNL cast had their own.

"Fred said Prince had this party and he had a buffet of macaroni and cheese. He said it was pretty quiet there.

He said he went to that and he wanted to tell him something. He was hoping to hear something nice back," according to MF.

"He said Prince was sitting alone eating mac and cheese. He said he carefully sat down and said he thinks he's the greatest.

He said Prince said he thinks the greatest is this macaroni and cheese. Fred said he had to walk away from the table alone backwards. He said he wasn't sure if he was joking."

You can hear this awesome story and more from the Stern Show interview in the audio below. Season two of Documentary Now premieres on Wednesday, September 14.
