Beauty and the Beast has done exactly what we all knew it would. The film skyrocketed to the number one spot on both the global and domestic box offices.

This marks yet another hit for Disney who have a big fan favorite on their hands.

"With an estimated $180 million internationally & $170 million in North America, Disney's Beauty And The Beast global opening lands at $350 million for second best March debut of all-time both globally and internationally," according to comScore's Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian.

"Notably, China opened to an estimated $44.8 million, making it the biggest ever Disney live-action opening weekend of all-time."

The new adaptation of Beauty and the Beast finds Belle in a much stronger role than the early animated film portrayed her to be.

This is all thanks to Emma Watson's efforts to prove to women and girls all over that they can be strong and independent. Check out the entire rundown of the box office hits for the weekend of Sunday, March 19, 2017 below.
