The first reviews for the live action version of Beauty and the Beast are in and thankfully things are on the positive side of things.

Currently the reviews are not as high as the 1991 animated film, but at least it's not getting atrocious feedback.

As seen on Rotten Tomatoes, Beauty and the Beast 2017 currently has a 74 percent rating. This is currently based off of 42 reviews that have been collated so far.

31 reviewers gave it a positive rating while only 11 reviewers didn't like the film. The average score for the film is 6.4/10. This means most of the reviewers may have given the film a respectable 3/5.

The critical consensus says:

With an enchanting cast, beautifully crafted songs, and a painterly eye for detail, Beauty and the Beast offers a faithful yet fresh retelling that honors its beloved source material

To compare this to the 1991 animated film, that movie is more well received as it has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 93 percent.

It's hard to replicate the classic animated films from Disney as they have a certain magical touch that made them special.

That being said, Disney is still dishing out live action versions of their famous films in the near future.

We still have a live action version of The Lion King on the way and many others are sure to follow.

The live action films have done well at the Box Office with Alice in Wonderland and The Jungle Book leading the charge.

Beauty and the Beast 2017 is expected to dominate the Box Office when it's out in North America on March 17th, 2017.

The trailers have been seen a record number of times and casting Emma Watson as the role of Belle has helped boost awareness for the film.
