It was nostalgia v.s. nostalgia at the box office last weekend but Disney managed to prevail. Disney's Beauty and the Beast hung in strong at number one, while Power Rangers debuted at number two domestically and three worldwide.

"Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' posted an incredible $207.5 million this weekend to push its global total to $690.3 million," according to comScore's Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian.

"Now the #1 movie of 2017 both in North America and globally, this is the fourth consecutive Walt Disney Studios release to surpass the $600 million mark globally, following the staggering success of 'Doctor Strange,' 'Moana' and 'Rogue One.'"

Disney keeps churning out the hits but there are still plenty of contenders to come in the remainder of the year. Will Beauty and the Beast top the box office three weeks in a row? Find out next week.
