While there was plenty of negativity surrounding the Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice film, it still managed to smash the box office with the fourth biggest global debut of all time.

Critics were pretty harsh on the film and some even took to trolling the film with their "reviews." Despite all of the drama Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice would not suffer.

In fact, it's likely that all of the buzz both negative and positive may have only added to the success of the film.

"With $424.1 million banked in the film's first weekend and with $254 million derived from the international territories alone, the DC Comics film posts the biggest superhero opening weekend of all-time," according to Paul Dergarabedian comeScore's Senior Media Analyst.

Disney's Zootopia and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 took the second and third spots respectively both globally and domestically for the week.
