Avengers: Infinity War just released this past weekend to much critical acclaim and record breaking box office numbers.

With so much happening on screen, there were bound to be things that were left out of the movie that fans would be curious about and one of the directors of the movie has clarified a few of them, including the fate of a very popular character introduced in Thor: Ragnarok.

Before going any further, there will be heavy spoilers here for one of the first scenes in Avengers: Infinity War, so make sure to stop reading if you have not seen the movie yet.

This is your final warning before the discussion of said event.

For those that saw Thor: Ragnarok and stayed until the end credits, you saw the scene where Thanos' ship appeared above the one carrying the remaining people of Asgard, including Thor and Loki.

Avengers: Infinity War picks up directly with this scene as Thanos is absolutely wrecking house.

Without saying who lives and dies that we see on screen, a few characters happened to be missing, namely Valkyrie and Korg, both of which were introdued in Thor: Ragnarok.

The ship ends up exploding leaving all who were left on it to die, though we had no idea if any escaped.

Thor did remark later though that half of the Asgardians were dead, so it lead us to assume somehow some must have escaped, which appears to be the case.

Joe Russo, co-director of Avengers: Infinity War recently spoke at a high school in Iowa with a Q&A portion that a Redditor attended and provided details from.

One of the questions he was asked was what was the fate of Valkyrie since we never saw her in the movie, with most assuming she must have died in the attack.

Thankfully, Russo confirmed that Valkyrie was alive and managed to escape along with other Asgardians through escape pods. This was good to hear, meaning a great new character could still be around.

Not so clear was when he was asked about the fan-favorite new character Korg, in which Russo was unwilling to say what his fate was.

With Valkyrie and some Asgardians still alive, this at least sets up the possibility of future movies involving Asgardians, hopefully with Taika Waititi at the helm, especially after how great Thor: Ragnarok was.
