Avengers: Infinity War Could Beat The Force Awakens As Biggest Opening Weekend Ever

In North America, the biggest opening weekend of all time belongs to Star Wars: The Force Awakens which came out in December 2015. It recorded an impressive record breaking opening weekend of $247.9 million. 

No other movie has managed to surpass it so far not even its sequel Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The Last Jedi is second on the list grossing $220 million in its opening weekend back in December 2017. 

Well The Force Awakens' record looks like it could finally be broken as it's believed Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War movie is currently on track to have the biggest opening weekend of all time.

This doesn't matter for Disney though because they own both the Marvel and Star Wars franchises!

Anyway as reported by The Wall Street Journal, Avengers: Infinity War is on track to equal or best the opening weekend of The Force Awakens.

This is thanks to high awareness of the film's release as well as impressive pre-sale tickets sold already.

Early projections say the film could gross around $230 million in its opening weekend, but strong word of mouth and great reviews could push this over the $250 million mark.

It's doable mainly because this film has been over 10 years in the making.

Its overall worldwide gross could also be stunning. The top three grossing movies of all time are Avatar, Titanic and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

If Infinity War is good, we may see a shift in the top three later this year.
