When the first Avatar movie came out, everyone was excited about the 3D experience. Sadly, the experience was kind of hindered because everyone had to wear additional glasses.

This type of technology still exists and it's a reason why 3DTVs are not popular. People don't want to spend/wear additional eyewear. Well, that might change with the release of Avatar 2 in the near future.

According to a report from Inquisitr, James Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment is collaborating with Christie Digital in order to deliver movie fans a new type of cinema experience.

They are working on a new laser projection that can output images at a really high frame rate. The technology will also deliver crystal clear images and a picture that is in 3D without the use of additional glasses.

The problem with watching 3D movies now in the cinema is that it slightly darkens the image quality. Movies look slightly brighter if you are watching it in 2D. Not to mention 3D glasses can be annoying for some users especially for those that already wear glasses for everyday use. I wear glasses daily and I usually hate having to wear a second pair of glasses just to watch a movie in 3D.

Glasses-free 3D technology exists today, but only on a small scale. Nintendo's 3DS gaming console comes to mind.

It can output 3D pictures without you needing to wear glasses of any kind.

However, the 3D effect only works if you are staring straight at the screen. The image isn't as effective if you are watching the screen from an angle.

Alas, I'm pretty sure James Cameron and the people working for him will get rid of all the flaws once Avatar 2 releases on December, 18th, 2020.

They have over three more years to perfect the technology and to potentially revolutionize the movie industry once again.
