This is a new one: the band Nickelback got into a twitter spat with Arnold Schwarzenegger yesterday after Schwarzenegger used Nickelback as the butt of a joke.

It's not new for Nickelback to be the target of derision.

Everyone from Mark Zuckerberg to your cousin has left about their painfully derivative and generic music. But it appears that the band still doesn't like it when people make fun of them.

Yesterday, in talking about the serious issue of gerrymandering - when districts are re-drawn in order to ensure that certain politicians remain in office - Arnold Schwarzenegger decided to use Nickelback in his analogy.

Schwarzenegger asked: "when Congress is less popular than herpes & Nickelback, how do 97% of them get reelected?"

Even leaving aside the fact that Schwarzenegger is essentially equating Nickelback with herpes, the analogy didn't go down well.

After possibly appearing in more memes than Grumpy Cat, you think Nickelback would be to desensitized to care to hit back at a single tweet, but they weren't.

Nickel back quickly responded "approval rate this: Batman & Robin. Please leave us out of your future wisdom drops."

Interestingly enough, twitter quickly jumped to the defense of the band, using their lyrics to attack shorts and eager for his low popularity and his poor performance as governor.

Regardless, the situation the escalated when Schwarzenegger tweeted back "that's... Ice cold. I hope we can agree that we need a freeze on gerrymandering, guys." In response, Nickelback offered their respect.
