The Smashing Pumpkins have been around for thirty years now, although the band's portfolio has not been consistent recently thanks to many changes in band members.

Well new hints reveal that the band could be announcing something big very soon that is getting fans worldwide very excited.

If you visit the official Smashing Pumpkins website, you can see that a countdown timer is plastered in the middle of the homepage. The time expires sometime on Thursday fueling speculation that a new album or tour announcement is imminent.

Long time fans have wanted the original members to reunite for a special reunion tour. The only current members are Billy Corgan and Jeff Schroeder who only joined the band in 2007.

The most original lineup included the members of Jimmy Chamberlin, D'arcy Wretzky and James Iha. It's speculated only some of the members will be back for an album reunion to be produced by Rick Rubin.

Billy Corgan has been quite busy over the last few years recording new music as well as still doing his duties as a professional wrestling promoter.

The avid wrestling fan has acquired the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) organization and it has been getting quite a bit of buzz since last year.

Outside of wrestling, fans of the band have always wanted the original members to reunite for one last tour.

This is doable since Guns N' Roses finally did a reunion tour after years of members of the band not talking to each other until very recently.

Whatever the countdown is about, hopefully it's something fans of The Smashing Pumpkins will get excited. Anything short of a new album or new tour with the original members could be seen as a disappointment to some.
