Anthony Mackie, posted a tweet yesterday in reaction to the news that Falcon will be taking over Captain America's role in the upcoming comic book.

Mackie is best known for his work on-screen as Marvel superhero Sam Wilson, aka the Falcon. Falcon first appeared in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and will come back to big screen in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The tweet, which you can see below, reads "Dreams do come true!!! It's only the ComicBook, but it's still amazing!" [sic] Below Mackie posted a photo of a young black boy in a Captain America suit, which may or may not be him.

(With the helmet on, it's hard to tell.)

It is monumental that Marvel is making a black man the face of Captain America.

Even if it is only for a short period of time, seeing a person of color represent the United States in a franchise that has historically catered to white male fans opens this world up to many more fans, adults and children alike.

What will be interesting is how Marvel plans to write Falcon as Captain America, and whether the authors at the entertainment giant believe the ideals a white Cap holds near and dear will be the same a black Cap does.
