Vajra, a new alternative and progressive art rock band from New York City has been making waves on the scene recently with the release of their debut album Pleroma.

To coincide with the drop of their debut release, Vajra also released their new single "Blind (Blood Remix)". Take a listen below to get a real feel for the eclectic sound of this NYC band.

Vajra has only been in the music scene for a few years, but have quickly generated a strong buzz around the city after selling out their first show in November of 2011 at The Bowery Electric in Manhattan.

The band is led by Annamaria Pinna, who has a neurological condition called synesthesia. This condition attaches color and shapes to sound, bringing "a new dimension to her songwriting", creating a dark and imaginative feel to the band's musical work.

Their debut album, Pleroma, released on the summer solstice in 2012, "is an exploration in paradox", crafting east versus west, soft versus pummelling, female versus male, and includes instrumentals from Blake Fleming.

Producers and mixers who also worked with big-name bands including Tool, System of a down, Prince, Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters and more, lent their experience to Vajra to complete the project.

The dark and alternative band weaves Eastern Indian themes with progressive rock to create what is described as mysterious lullabies.

Having played at a number of different music festivals and venues around the country, there's no stopping this eclectic band on the rise. For more information, be sure to visit www.thevajratemple.com.
