Tickets for Black Panther came on sale just a few days ago and pre-sales are running really hot in North America. Due to the high demand, the movie could have one of the biggest Box Office weekend openings in 2018.

As reported by Deadline, 24 hour pre-sales for Black Panther are higher than that of Captain America: Civil War. To put this in perspective, Civil War eventually went on to earn over $179 million in its North America opening weekend.

It is also noted that it's the best selling MCU movie in its first 24 hours to date. The movie opens on February 16th, 2018 and this date is good for Disney/Marvel because competition is weak during that period.

The record for the biggest February opening belongs to 20th Century Fox's Deadpool. The R rated Deadpool overcame all the odds and eventually grossed a massive $132.4 million in its opening weekend.

Since Black Panther is only rated PG-13, it has a bigger audience that is allowed to see the movie compared to the restrictions put in place for the aforementioned Deadpool.

That said, current estimates say the film could open around $90 million to $100 million, although these are just early conservative predictions from analysts.

Sometimes it's hard to predict how much money a movie will get a month before its release date. For example, nobody predicted that Jurassic World would have had an opening over $200 million when it came out in 2015.

On the flip side of that, people were expecting DC's Justice League to have a huge opening, yet it only launched with a $93 million weekend making it the lowest grossing DCEU movie released to date.

Hopes are high that Black Panther can become a huge Box Office success. In a recent Fandango survey, the movie was voted as the second most anticipated film of 2018 just behind Marvel's own Avengers: Infinity War.
