Adam Warlock plays a major role in the comic book Marvel universe.

If you have read the comic books, you'll know that the character plays a crucial role in helping to take down Thanos. Sadly though, it looks like the character won't be introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe just yet.

Slash Film had a chance to to speak with Kevin Feige recently who is the head of Marvel Studios. He confirmed to the website that Adam Warlock will not be appearing in in Avengers: Infinity War.

He is being saved for a later date. His comments can be seen below.

He's not. He's not in Infinity War. But he will be a part of the future Marvel cosmic universe and a pretty important part of that. If he appears anywhere in the future, it'll be in Guardians.

James Gunn revealed in the same interview with Slash Film that he initially penned Adam Warlock to be in for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

There was an early treatment of the script where the character had a big part, however he had to cut him out as he felt the movie was introducing too many characters. See his comments below.

But it was one character too many and I didn't want to lose Mantis and Mantis was more organically part of the movie anyway. So I decided to save him for later.

It's highly likely the character will be introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and will be a part of the new slate of Marvel Studios films.

This will come as bittersweet news for fans of Adam Warlock.

It would have been cooler to see him in Avengers: Infinity War, but it looks like we will have to wait a bit longer to see his glorious debut in the MCU.
