20th Century Fox Announces New Release Dates For Deadpool 2 and The New Mutants

20th Century Fox has decided to shuffle around its comic book movies this year and this includes the release dates of Deadpool 2 and New Mutants.

If you were looking forward to both movies, you may know need to adjust the bookmarks on your calendar.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Deadpool is no longer releasing on June 1st, 2018. Instead, 20th Century Fox is moving up the R rated superhero comedy to May 18th, 2018.

This is a bold move considering it will be released just two weeks after Avengers: Infinity War and only a week before the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story.

It will be interesting to see if this was a smart move or not.

The most surprising change is the delay of The New Mutants. Originally scheduled to come out on April 13, 2018, the release date has now been pushed back 10 months and won't be out until February 22nd, 2019.

The reason for the change is due to some overseas markets were releasing Deadpool 2 and The New Mutants at roughly around the same time. 20th Century Fox didn't want its two movies competing against one another.

Lastly, the studio announced a new release date for Gambit starring Channing Tatum as the popular card throwing superhero. The new release date for Gambit is now June 7th, 2019.

The only movie that seems to be keeping its release date is X-Men: Dark Phoenix. That movie is still expected to come out on November 2nd, 2018 in North America.
